Magdalen College

After visiting the museums, I took a walk around the Magdalen College grounds on the way home.

Spring

Despite the snow last week, it's definitely spring in England now.

Torpids, Day 4

The photos from days 3 & 4 weren't particularly interesting - it's difficult to take pictures of the races that actually look somewhat interesting. However, here are some links to photos taken of my boat by a company that photographs boat races: here, here, and here. As always, the photographers on the bank manage to capture everyone just as they're assuming a strange body position, making a weird facial expression, or both.

Torpids, Day 2

Just after we got off the water today it started snowing - surprisingly heavily.

However, by the time I'd left the Isis and gone into town to Blackwell's, it was sunny and most of the snow had melted.

And across the Broad from Blackwell's Music is Balliol College.

Torpids, Day 1

Some shots of the Isis during the race. Unfortunately, the race looks pretty sedate in these pictures. Partly because you can't see the boats moving, and partly because by the time they get to the boat house island, a lot of the boats have bumped out, and aren't racing anymore.

Inside the Balliol boat house are some interesting charts that plot how all the colleges did in bumps over a number of years.

And along with the charts are the actual oars crews received over the years when they won blades.
